ABSTRACT

Most of the large, profitable, and successful organizations are the result of a creative individual who believed in a concept so strongly that he brought it to market. For every improvement opportunity, there are a number of potential solutions. All too often, the team will find one solution and then spend the rest of their time trying to justify why that solution is the best answer. Successful growing companies have found that the answer to many of their problems is to become more creative and innovative. Tacit knowledge is knowledge that is formed around intangible factors embedded in an individual’s experience. It often takes the form of beliefs, values, principles, and morals. It guides the individual’s actions. It is embedded in the individual’s ideas, insights, value, and judgment. Production is driven by machines, processes, and assembly activities. Innovation is driven by an individual with creative abilities.
