ABSTRACT

This chapter advises to invest in meeting toolkits. They are not expensive and encourage the right rigorous and efficient alignment activities. It say that people need to tailor the introductions to what they want to accomplish. Name tag design is similar: color-coded tags are useful in this meeting. If it appears that the team has fundamental differences in perspective that could threaten its performance, the facilitative leader should get the issue out in the open. He should flush out the nay-sayers and deal with their objections. The leader needs to have the team do the work. There can be wide variation in how long it takes to do this type of interactive exercise. While the facilitators should try to keep things on time, pushing too hard can result in short-circuiting needed conversation. The earlier in project planning that we can set specific dates for integrating events the better. These become the anchor dates for the entire set of work.
