ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a critical review of the literature pertinent. K. Pillai and B. Brinkworth considered the use of phase change material (PCM) in energy storage systems. Yin et al. built an electronic cooling experimental system based on thermal adaptation composite material. S. C. Fok et al. considered the cooling of portable electronic devices using phase change material based finned heat sinks. R. Baby and C. Balaji conducted experimental investigations on PCM-based finned heat sinks using n-eicoanse. S. Hosseinizadeh et al. conducted both experimental and numerical studies on the thermal performance of PCM-based heat sinks. Various techniques like fins and heat pipe have been adopted in conjunction with PCMs to enhance the thermal conductivity of the Latent Heat Thermal Energy Storage over the years. A thermosyphon is a gravity assisted wickless heat pipe containing a working fluid, which undergoes phase change during the transient operation of the heat pipe.
