ABSTRACT

Summary

In Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA), we combine preferences and data, often with uncertainty incorporated. However, we do not explicitly look at how valuable each piece of data is to our overall decision or where additional information-gathering should be attempted to facilitate decision-making. This chapter discusses how using Value of Information (VoI) analysis to augment MCDA methods can assist direct research needs and clarify where uncertainty has the largest impact on the overall decision. DECERNS does not integrate VoI analysis, so this chapter presents a conceptual framework only.
