ABSTRACT

In general, the thinking of old white males dominates the C-Suite. Most are baby boomers and older Generation X, which means that they were not part of the digital revolution. This chapter explains about the traits and challenges of being a C-Suite executive. The C-Suite is made up of “C” level executives, where mostly their titles involve the word “Chief,” as in Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and so on. Executive hubris is dangerous to businesses because CEOs want to take over other companies and embark on ambitious projects – which is not necessarily a bad thing, it’s just that the thinking motivations behind this might be suspect. To be fair, “The dark side of executive psychology” is actually a paper called “Beyond the dark side of executive psychology,” which examines the fascination that researchers have with executive hubris.
