ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses virtual realism as a philosophical stance about the nature of mental life across possible worlds. Virtual realism consists of the position of the mental content that is a reality in the world as a product of scientific theory at the level of computation. Virtual realism elaborates on the reality of mental content as consistent from the mental content of simple computing to supercomputing machines. Virtual realism explores the reality of the world from the mental content of computing machines and its causal role. Virtual realism contributes to the continuum of mental content in the structure of the physical world. Virtual realism provides insight into contemporary perspectives of scientific realism.
