ABSTRACT

This chapter proceeds with another illustration – that of architecting an automobile. It demonstrates the method of architecting set forth in this treatise. The chapter articulates a functional decomposition Speed Contro, Braking, Carrying Capacity, Styling/Appointments, Automation, Visibility/Human Factors, Safety/Security, Power Source/Supply, Audio/Video, Emission Control, Suspension, Maintenance, and Fuel Economy. If the architect or the architecting team is not pleased with the results of this step in the process, it should be repeated and specific sensitivities should be explored. If we place this architecting process into a setting inside an automobile company, or a “consumer reports” type of company, obtain some additional insight into what the additional features cost, and what a consumer (customer) might be willing to pay for such features.
