ABSTRACT

Six-membered nitrogen-containing heterocycles are vastly found in a number of biologically active compounds, natural products and pharmaceuticals, such as antibacterial, antifungal, antibiotics, anti-HIV, anticancer, antipsychotic, antiviral, antihypertensive, immunomodulator, and glycosidase inhibitors (Eftekhari-Sis, Zirak, and Akbari 2013, Eftekhari-Sis and Zirak 2014). They are also widely used as organocatalysts (Eftekhari-Sis, Sarvari Karajabad, and Haqverdi 2017, Malkov et al. 2003) and sensors (Eftekhari-Sis and Mirdoraghi 2016, Eftekhari-Sis, Samadneshan, and Vahdati-Khajeh 2018, Eftekhari-Sis et al. 2018). However, various types of one-step or multi-step synthesis of these types of heterocycles have been reported in the literature; the development of new approaches to the synthesis of six-membered N-heterocycles with various functional groups are of interest to synthetic and medicinal scientists (Eftekhari-Sis, Zirak, and Akbari 2013, Eftekhari-Sis and Zirak 2014, Zirak and Eftekhari-Sis 2015).
