ABSTRACT

A new method for the design of weave patterns is proposed, based on interpretations of texts. The chapter presents the concept of the method, which uses the analogy between letters and numbers. The transformation method discusses its basic approach and the application of different transformation matrices. The presented possible variations of the method involve the effect of the size of the matrix, the direction of the transformation, the view of the pattern, and the number of single overlaps over one thread. Four design experiments with different words and phrases are presented. The assessment of the new weave patterns and the application of the method are discussed.
