ABSTRACT

A new method for the design of weave patterns, based on interpretation of the Braille alphabet, is proposed. The chapter presents the concept of the method and the similarity between the ways of encoding between the Braille cell and the weave diagram. The transformation method discusses the application of the Braille cell as an image and as a number of dots. Different design experiments are used to show the application of the method and the differences in the texture of the fabric, depending on the design approach. The assessment of the new weave patterns and the application of the method are also discussed.
