ABSTRACT

The fourth S-Curve is a critical point in time for the maturity of Six Sigma. Master Black Belts are one of the key linchpins in the success of the Six Sigma effort. Access and support are important because the supplier will generally not have Master Black Belts of their own, so this can be a barrier to success. Using the organization’s Master Black Belts to support supplier projects takes that barrier away and gives the organization some ownership and control over the eventual result of the projects. Master Black Belts are selected because of their technical capability only. This can lead to a fixation on the tools and traditional Six Sigma. Recalling the discussion about how the S-Curves and the Kano Model are connected, the basic bucket of requirements grows as the organization progresses in maturity.
