ABSTRACT

Curve 7, Business Systems Improvement, expands the use of Six Sigma processes and tools into broad, integrated, systemic umbrella-type problem areas. Projects in S-Curve 7 focus on disruptions in the flow of information and material in the end-to-end supply chain. This chain begins with raw materials delivered to suppliers, through the company’s processes and on to the company’s customers. Boundaries between organizations exist for many reasons, including: Internal measures of performance against which subunits are evaluated and Internal management competition. The objective is to highlight and encourage project-to-project connections. These connections are necessary to ensure that the original big issue is improved. More importantly, the customer experiences a real change in the performance of the company’s products. The projects found during S-Curves 6 and 7 reflect a high level of Six Sigma maturity. One will find all project types during this phase.
