ABSTRACT

Having considered, in the previous chapters, the role of superior judiciary, criminal administration justice system, political parties and military establishment, and local government system in the current situation, characterized by a virtual absence of rule of law and failure to create an inclusive political economy in Pakistan, this chapter examines the nature and the possible role of civil society in evolving democratic, progressive and dynamic institutions geared towards the economic, political and cultural development of a vast majority of people in all segments of Pakistan’s society.
