ABSTRACT
Opportunities abound, and it is easy to transition to a new role. Often this can be accomplished while still working in reader existing position. Sometimes people will find opportunities outside of lighting and change careers accordingly. They frequently find that their experience and knowledge from the lighting industry provides unique skills and insight that can be used effectively in their new field. Some opt to remain with production but focus on video, audio, special effects, or other areas. The small, family-like qualities of the relationships gained within the lighting industry usually help those who choose to move on to other fields. They find lighting associates are always willing to help out, and will be there should they return to lighting in the future. The exact definition of retirement is deeply personal and varies widely with individuals. Some just want to live comfortably and spend time with family.
