ABSTRACT

Starting at the age of four, Cory FitzGerald was introduced to Broadway shows by his parents, and he quickly formed a fascination with the theater. With his eyes originally set on being a Broadway lighting designer, he has had a varied career that now sees him moving beyond lighting to producing and directing major productions and tours. The passion for stage lighting started when Cory was twelve, after several years of attending a summer theater camp in Los Angeles. He became friends with the program’s lighting designer, James Schipper. James offered him the opportunity to work on the crew, running follow spots, hanging lights, and ultimately learning consoles. It was like going to school all over again, but by staying focused on the constantly changing project in front of the FitzGerald, the author really didn't notice till it was all behind FitzGerald. FitzGerald has added more skills to his repertoire and now works as a creative director and creative producer.
