ABSTRACT
I suppose a question to be asked is, why include sonnets in this book? It is my belief that working on sonnets as soliloquies is an important first step for actors. I also believe the sonnets are audition worthy material. It certainly opens up a plethora of material for women who need classic audition pieces. With that said, I always tell my female students not to avoid male speeches. Cross gender casting in Shakespeare happens often—as it should.
