ABSTRACT
Chapter 2 is about the use of bootstrap methods for resampling data. Bootstrap methods are based on the idea that in the absence of any other information about a population the distribution of values observed in a sample of n observations from the population is the best guide to the distribution of the values in the population. The chapter covers the calculation of confidence limits calculated in various ways, bootstrap tests of significance, and the bootstrap analysis of count data.
