ABSTRACT
Using MARC supplied vendor records for eight years and other vendor supplied services for extended periods has proved to the author that there are valuable, reliable but perhaps untraditional products available from vendors that can work in many library situations. You monitor and control these services the same as you do any purchased product and you weigh the benefits against the cost or adjustments to established procedures to determine if you want to use a new service.
