ABSTRACT

Quasi-experimental research designs are an innovative answer on the highly discussed question of how to assess transitional justice impact. In this book, I analyze whether the assumption underlying transitional justice that TRCs and reparation programs contribute to social cohesion holds true. Hereby, this study contributes to the ongoing methodological debate on how to assess the impact as there is still a lack of methodologically sound studies. The analytical framework with the stages of measuring transitional justice impact and its operationalization as well as the quasi-experimental research design are presented in a manner that allows other researchers to apply them to other transitional justice contexts.
