ABSTRACT
In this chapter we look at how Big Data may evolve in the future. There are already signs that it has become more powerful than it should have or should be, but the really bad news is that it will continue to become more potent and the threat to privacy will become more real. Any solace can be found in the fact that the applications running on Big Data will become more convenient: not just existing products and services but also the newer ones that become available. No one can really guarantee how successful the checks and balances will be and how sophisticated they will become, but the backlash that tech companies will face is going to increase significantly. Regulators will not remain silent and they will continue to act, even in that may seem harsh to many.
