ABSTRACT

There is no question that the established dietary guidelines for protein set by what are commonly known as the RDA’s at .8 g/kg/day, are far too low for anyone whose lifestyle requires their body to function beyond its resting metabolic levels. However, does the higher intake level of athletic and active consumers require protein at levels which necessitate supplements? If not, then what are the seven misconceptions the supplement industry uses to exploit and fleece this population group?
