ABSTRACT
This chapter attempts to classify the findings of the research work and subsequently argues the importance of the findings in the present cultural scenario of India as far as its attitude towards the English language is concerned. This chapter segregates the diverse channels of ‘Indianization’ of the English language, such as loanwords, lexis-bound translation, and reference to cultural details. Finally I argue that Indians’ attitude towards the English language is to a considerable extent decided by their ignorance of the legacy of English writings and speeches by eminent Indians and their interrelation with the rise of Indian nationalism.
