ABSTRACT

Frank Langella trained and worked with the legendary Elia Kazan and Arthur Lessac as a founding member of the Lincoln Center Training Program. He discusses his portrayal of King Lear (a play also discussed in the Derek Jacobi and Glenda Jackson chapters), the dangers of waiting for inspiration, Method acting, the American versus the British approach, and the two bits of advice he was given that helped him find success as an actor. He also advises young actors about a crown they all must carry. Mr Langella’s awards include four Tonys, two Obies, and a Drama Desk.
