ABSTRACT

Overall, the future for religion in Cuba appears ominous. In contrast, greater political-ideological rigor is called for under the terms of the Strategic Counteroffensive. An essential premise in all political-ideological work is to leave clearly established the certainty that material well-being depends on creative work, and that we will have only whatever we are capable of producing. Addressing the subject of attitudes inconsistent with socialist ideology and morality, the document calls upon militants to “fight against any prejudice or vestige of discrimination” against women, and similarly, “not to give up the struggle against racial prejudices that are still manifested in subtle and sometimes unconscious ways". The seriousness with which the regime presently intends to carry out rectification was indicated in a range of control measures that have recently been taken. The regime has made few explicit attacks against Radio Marti in the past year, preferring instead to berate imperialism’s information monopoly, psychological warfare, and ideological aggression.
