ABSTRACT

The interviews recorded in this book were not meant for publication and the style reflects it. Dominique Wolton and Jean-Louis Missika had carefully prepared the three television programs, read most of my books, a great number of my articles and jotted down some quotations and threw them at me at opportune moments. From these sometimes caustic discussions, almost nothing remains in the television programs. My friend Albert Palle, who was my student at the Le Havre lycée during the 1933–1934 scholastic year, took on the task of transposing into a semi-written style my remarks that had to be abridged for television.
