College Sports I

Overview and NCAA Decision-Making
ByGeorge Foster, Norm O’Reilly, Antonio Dávila

College or university is a key stage in life for many people. From the late teenage years into adulthood, many young adults study in a variety of college/university fields to find a job, further their careers and learn. While for many students, sport is an important element of the post-secondary (post-high school) education experience, the level of engagement varies dramatically school by school, program by program and student by student. Although other countries support and invest in college sports, colleges in the United States have made by far the largest investments in sports, especially in intercollegiate games/events. The National College Athletic Association is the leading US college sports governing body.
