ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights three aspects of the ORCA-Stance that the therapist can utilize to explore the relevance of spiritual as part of the client’s experience: an invitational stance; protection for the therapist against a convincing position; and facilitating attunement to the interaction of client and therapist. The ORCA-Stance functions to help the therapist who is interested in exploring the kinds of transformations that might emerge from the sets of circumstances that can bring their clients into therapy, allowing clients to include their spiritual values as part of their experience within the therapeutic conversation. A case study is examined and best practices suggested.
