ABSTRACT

The latter was now in charge of all economic, pastoral and administrative affairs of the parish of Sombor as dean, with the curious addition that, naturally, he had no words to say in the internal matters and events of the Franciscan friary serving and supervising this parish, those pertaining to the competency of the house master, his superiors within the order. The line of questions for the investigation, developed by the dean and arranged into nine thematic groups, is an excellent reflection of all the preliminary information and the prejudiced view based on preliminary assumptions about these irregularities. The dean’s report contained several appendices: besides a copy of the questions and the Franciscan’s lengthy response described above, Bajalich also sent to Kalocsa a certain Liber exorcismorum “which the exorcist had followed as a guideline”.
