ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a historical overview of health services development in the pre- and post-market reform period in China. It examines the commercialisation of medical care in the post-reform period and its continuum to the present time. The globalisation of health sector reforms as an idea and praxis are detailed in the Chinese context.
