ABSTRACT

Other than murder, no other type of crime evokes as much fear and emotion as sex offenses. This chapter discusses how the risk-need-responsivity model applies to sex offenders, highlighting both the similarities and the differences between sex offenders and the general offender population. Included is a review of sex offender assessment tools, the Good Lives model and the effectiveness of supervision in the community using electronic monitoring, the Global Positioning System and the Sex Offender Registration Notification. Finally, the importance of program fidelity with this population is examined.
