ABSTRACT

Another reason why people commit mistakes is to meet a deadline. This is different from being in a hurry, since this was a project on which the person has been working on for some time. Often the deadline was assigned usually by someone other than the project leader. An example is provided to illustrate the often disastrous results that can occur as a result of implementing and following a self-imposed deadline. This resulted in not only the loss of a potential customer but also a number of unpleasant phone calls requesting for an explanation as to why manual labor had to be used instead of automatic equipment to unload railroad cars.
