ABSTRACT

This chapter provides the fundamental (yet not always apparent) guidelines for all speaking opportunities described in the book: conference sessions, keynotes, TED Talks, NPR, and so on. The chapter is broken into three speaking stages: before speaking (planning), while speaking, and after speaking. Readers are shown how to inject “magic” into any presentation, interview, or other spoken opportunity so the information in it is attention-grabbing, attention-holding, understandable, cared-about, action-inspiring, memorable, and shared with others. A Scrappy Fast Track is outlined for readers who want to quickly land keynotes, a TED Talk, or other opportunity to reach thousands.
