ABSTRACT

This chapter concludes the whole study. After a brief summary, it presents the main findings and implications of the study. The findings mainly include a showcase of social mentalities behind business names in the Chinese context, “negative adaptation” in Chinese public discourse, the civilized and uncivilized usages of Chinese public discourse, subjectivity in Chinese journalistic discourse, personal features and the trend towards personalization in Chinese public discourse, and so on. As a practical implication, the chapter recommends that to promote linguistic civilization and improve social spiritual civilization, relevant departments should strengthen the regulation of public discourse and forbid any unsatisfactory and uncivilized discourse, while at the same time advocating progressive discourse practices. Finally, it points out some limitations of the study and future directions of research.
