ABSTRACT

This chapter focussed on identifying trends and providing insights for further research. Despite each life story being different, the similarities that cut across the participants also needed to find articulation. The chapter presents macro trends within the inter-religious contexts in which young adults in the study grew up. This is followed by a theme based analysis on the nature of religious commitments; religious doubt; organised religions, religious communities and personal interpretations of religion; family dynamics and religious environment of the home; experiences at school; interpersonal relations at home; freedom and exploration; in anticipation of opposition; experiencing and dealing with conflict; identity development and multiple identities; assigned and chosen identities; challenges in parenting; and perspectives towards the ‘other’.
