ABSTRACT
In the original Star Wars movie, the droid R2-D2 is able to project an SOS message from Princess Leia in the form of a 3D moving image. This is fairly rudimentary by today’s standards – but it should be remembered that it was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Just see what has been achieved in Star Trek, where a fully operational ‘holo-deck’ allows a user to interact directly or indirectly with their simulated surroundings.
