ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with photographs of the landscape of the site from public viewpoints and the surroundings taken in leaf-off and leaf-on conditions if possible. A sketch analysis of the site and its landscape context can also be incorporated. In considering whether to grant planning permission, or permission in principle, for development which affects a listed building or its setting, the local planning authority or, as the case may be, the Secretary of State shall have special regard to the desirability of preserving the building or its setting or any features of special architectural or historic interest which it possesses. If the assets are of lesser significance and the impact of the development is less than significant, this assessment can form part of the Rural Development Assessment. The importance of setting on the significance of the assets should be identified. Describe the relationship of the proposal, in terms of its character, in relation to any existing development and the landscape.
