‘The Lover of Music to the Pianoforte’

First published in The Athenæum, no. 245, 7 July 1832, p. 439. Republished with minor variants in John Barnett’s Lyrical Illustrations of the Modern Poets (1834) as ‘The Lover of Music to his Pianoforte’. The revised title is used thereafter from 1844 onwards, though the text in that volume is closer to the original Athenæum version of the poem.
