ABSTRACT

This odd, muddled and eccentric pamphlet defends the Roman Catholic Church as based on Scripture and yet insists that all Christian churches agree on the most important tenets of faith and belief. Their differences in rituals and ceremonies are not important, even though the author acknowledges differences over such issues as the Eucharist and the Trinity (which many Christians would regard as being very important). The author condemns the penal laws enacted after 1695 and wishes to see them repealed. He goes further and would like to see lands taken from Catholics in the seventeenth century restored to them or, failing that, they should be given land in under-populated parts of Ireland or in overseas colonies such as Newfoundland. At times, the author appears to contradict himself and admits that those who lost their lands long ago cannot reclaim them.
