ABSTRACT

The Marquis having passed a tolerable night, on the following day his fever abated, and his wound presented the most favourable symptoms. Madame de Sevrac’s heart beat with renovated hope, and her countenance once more exhibited the placid smile of patient sufferance. All the ills of life vanished, before the fond solicitude which filled her bosom for the safety of a darling husband; and although her situation was replete with sorrows, she fancied that it was not insupportable, while he still lived to share them.
