It was communicated by lady Pen, with all appropriate embel-lishments; and the credulous fair one was carried to her lodgings in violent hysterics. While the buzz was going round with all its vehemence, sir Lionel and lady Louisa entered the Rooms; and shortly after them Mrs. Popkins, (late Mrs. Bradford,) who informed the whisperers, one by one, that sir Lionel had been seen by one of her footmen descending from the balcony of lady Louisa’s apartment. This was indubitable confirmation; and the supposed guilty parties were by the whole circle sent to Coventry.80
