With the aid of Mr. Dodson Martha arranged the last solemn and sacred offices of filial duty. The body was removed with funeral pomp to the family seat in Kent, where only a few weeks before Mr. Popkins had also paid the great debt of nature. Martha attended the gloomy cavalcade: but what was her surprize, when on arriving at the park-lodge she was refused admittance, by order of her unnatural sister, who had taken possession of the house according to the will of her departed mother.
