ABSTRACT

This untitled manuscript is in the National Library of Scotland, MS 4789, ff. 56–62. It is continuous and self-contained; the folio numbering indicates its position in a bundle of De Quincey manuscript material given by William Blackwood and Sons in 1942. The paper is white, written on both sides in black ink. Two papers are used: the first leaf, f. 56, measures 185 by 230 mm, and is watermarked 1824; all the other leaves measure 190 by 235 mm, and are watermarked 1825. Folios 57 and 58, 59 and 60, 61 and 62 each form a geminate pair.
