ABSTRACT

The manuscript is in the National Library of Scotland, MS 4789 ff. 33–6. It consists of 2 sheets of white paper 370 by 226 mm, each watermarked 1827 and each folded once to make a pair of geminate leaves 185 by 226 mm. All leaves are written on both sides in black ink. The manuscript is self-contained, but the leaves have been numbered for cataloguing purposes as ff. 33 through 36, representing their position in a collection of De Quincey manuscripts given by William Blackwood and Sons in 1942.
