ABSTRACT

Every feature of Jesus character is illustrated by some apt similitude, happily qualified to answer the purposes we have been stating. Are we pointed to his love for his people and the necessity of his redemption? He is the bread of life, a fountain of living water, and the great shepherd of his sheep. A cheerful innocence seems to support him under every calamity. Well faith the prophet, He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth. He is led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth. And just as pure and innocent was the holy Jesus. He was without spot or blemish or any such thing. He was holy, harmless, unde filed and separate from sinners. He did not sin, neither was guile found in his mouth.
