ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the theological arguments regarding the conquest of the Wendish territory. The warfare was justified because it had the purpose of protecting missionaries, new converts and churches. This chapter shows that for the Saxon Church, the Wendish territory was sacred because before the apostasy it had had a Christian ecclesiastical organization.
