ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we present an overview of concepts, research, and applications of Project-Based Learning (PBL). The first author, Brian, will elaborate on his experience using PBL in a graduate strength and conditioning (S&C) course. Brian has been honing PBL at three different universities for over 10 years with students from varying educational and social backgrounds. PBL can be a powerful instructional strategy to enhance critical thinking and professional judgment. We provide a tested framework for implementing PBL with university-level graduate students in an S&C course; however, PBL could be used in a variety of coach development contexts.
