ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we offer a “learning through experience” framework that explains how coaches use reflective practice (RP) to deepen their knowledge, so that coach developers can better understand how to construct meaningful learning experiences in graduate-level courses. We draw upon Schön’s work on reflective practice (1983) to show how coaches learn by reflecting on their experiences in an experiential learning process, how RP can be used to facilitate deep reflection and learning, and how to use RP to create instructional strategies in two different graduate-level contexts.
