ABSTRACT
The use of gold nanoparticle as the anti-arthritic agent dates back to thousands of years and has been well documented in folk medicine and ancient medicinal books. Recent advances in nanoscience and arthritis research have yielded scientific validations of gold nanoparticle possessing anti-arthritic potential, thereby confirming the validity of the ancient use of gold nanoparticle to treat arthritis. This chapter discusses in detail the disease arthritis, disease progression and the related problems, the role of nanotechnology in biomedical science, the use of nano-based materials in different areas of medical science, gold nanoparticles, and its use in medical science and anti-arthritic potential of the gold nanoparticle. It provides a better insight into the understanding of the technology and its miracle power to change the scenario of medical science, with special reference to arthritis.
