ABSTRACT

Carolina film director Edward was getting himself established for a career in film producing in the Carolina area. For this region, he was considered fairly accomplished since he actually had a film finished. There were other concepts and ideas he was interested in and there were projects that he would do for deferred salary if they came together. He was looking for that big “high-wealth individual” to fund his script. When Edward started the process of selling his film, he did not know much about the business of film. In fact, that was why he made his first feature at such a low budget in the first place. Many of the filmmakers the author talked to – as their film goes into marketing and promotion – talked a lot about the “target audience.” If it’s an environmental movie, they talk about environmental groups that might co-sponsor a local showing.
