ABSTRACT

Chapter 4 explains a strategy for responding to evidence in student solutions to inform instructional decisions for a whole class or for individual students using the OGAP Ratio and Proportion Progression. This process involves (1) eliciting evidence of student thinking as students are working and discussing and through exit questions provided at the end of lessons and (2) using this evidence to continually adjust instruction as students are learning. In this way, the teacher can continually provide all students timely evidence-based instruction.
